Updates and a Look Ahead

As I predicted in last month's newsletter after 2 months of declining requests, the rebound in cases has begun! I am happy to report that in 5654 consecutive days that Annie’s Angels has been filling requests, 6447 requests have been successfully completed! Between August 1 & 31, 2022 Annie’s Angels has received and assisted with 97 requests, a new request record, compared to August 2021 of 47 requests, a 70% increase from last year. Requests to date 2022 are 542 compared to 2021 at 415, a 27% increase compared to the same time frame last year. This was a predictable outcome as new case workers get hired and try to play catch up. We need to play keep up!
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Deck Party BBQ, Angel Comedy at The Brook, and the seven days of gaming! I am happy to announce that our week at The Brook brought in...well, I really can't say right now! I can say this, The Brook was so impressed with our work ethic, our personality, and by YOU, our loyal supporters that they offered us another 3 days in September! September 10, 11 & 12 will be Angel Weekend. They asked that we don’t share the amount publicly until after we collected the final check, and we can take a picture with the BIG check.
Speaking of checks, I want to thank Russ Willey from Crypto Charities. I was introduced to Russ last month. The introduction came from Brad Solomon, our web designer and owner of SC Digital. The pitch was to download an app that runs in the background of our computers and raises money by processing Bit Coin. I checked their website and found organizations like Red Cross, SPCA, Wounded Warrior and other were using this to raise money for their cause. Brad has downloaded the app to SC Digital computers and Russ turned his computers to work for Annie’s Angels. After running for one month, Annie’s Angels has received a check for just over $111.00. If all goes well, we could raise more than $1200.00 this year through this app. Naturally, the more computers we have processing, the more money we raise. I understand this isn’t for everyone but if you’re interested, please let me know. I can set up a meeting to have this process explained to you in more detail. Annie's Angels is Angel Hands; Angels Hearts working together to help friends in need. A Day in the Life
by: Christine Goudin My name I Christine Goudin. I have been involved with Annie’s Angels in some capacity since 2010. First as an Angel family, then as a volunteer, finally being elected to the Board of Directors. I have not only benefited from the generosity of our supporters but have also aided in passing along desperately needed help. Although I know what goes into making Annie’s Angels the gracious and giving program it is, I never really thought about what goes into it on a daily basis. The vast number of emails, phone calls, and text that need to be answered and responded to, the meetings, and inquiries made, the networking and educating of the community involved to keep the program running. I recently had the opportunity to spend the good part of a day seeing exactly what goes on behind the scenes. On this particular day I met with Bill and Diane DaGiau in the late morning. They had already been in the office responding to requests and inquiries from area social services programs as well as a myriad of other sources for a couple of hours by this time. Preparations for The Heavenly Ball, which takes place in May, have already begun. The venue, music, auctioneer, parking, and lodging all need to be locked down well ahead of time. I began my day with them meeting and touring to confirm several details for the Heavenly Ball. No hints on what’s happening from me! From there we had another meeting at the S.P.C.A. in Stratham through the Angel Pets for Vets program. We were helping a veteran get a dog. The joy and gratitude of the veteran were palpable, and I couldn’t help but smile. Not only was I happy for this vet, but also the dog who found a furever home. The vet vowed the dog will never see another shelter and will be showered with love for the rest of her days. I could also feel the sense of purpose the vet felt by having this dog in his care. It was such a joyous feeling to fill a need for both of them. And when I thought of how many vets and animals we have provided this same feeling for, I was overwhelmed with a renewed sense of purpose for all we do at Annie’s Angels. From there it was on to The Brook in Seabrook to collect a check from the Deck Party and Comedy Show as well as our allotted proceeds from the gaming. I was in awe of the casino as I had never been there before. I was even more in awe when we were told that the casino liked our programs so much, they will be donating another three days of gaming proceeds from a period of time in September. We did not, however, walk in, get a check, and leave. There was another period of waiting, as a previous meeting for the Brook was running late. We had a brief meeting while a donation of…well I can’t tell you until after our next three days of gaming, but I can tell you it was a lot! While there we also discussed future fundraising opportunities on the deck. You’ll have to wait and see what we come up with! All the time we were out, there were still phone calls, text messages, and emails coming in and being handled. By now the day was just about over. It was back to the office to check emails and take care of the messages that came in during the meetings. And Bill doesn’t clock out at the end of the work day like most of us do. He’s always got his eyes and ears available for those in need. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a genuinely caring and giving organization that is Anne’s Angels Memorial Fund.
