As we head into October most businesses and non-profits are looking at Q4 and end of year campaigns to raise money. They're making plans for an amazing 2020, with big plans and even bigger dreams! I'm not going to lie, that's what our board is doing as well. But for a minute, I'd like to look back at September and reflect on what we accomplished before we dart into Q4.
In just the month of September Annie's Angels received and granted 43 requests for assistance. Since January 1st, 271 days ago, we've received and granted 261 requests! These numbers, to me are incredible, nearly 1 request every single day. Thanks to you we are able to fill these gaps in families lives. Thanks to you we are able to help when no one else will. Thanks to you, Annie's Angels is a beacon of hope to families struggling financially through life threatening disease, illness and disability.
I'd like you to imagine for a moment, I ask you to imagine because in the course of your normal day this stuff would never enter your mind, lets imagine that your parent needs a medical widget not covered by insurance. Mom/dad reach out to Annie's Angels and fill out a request for assistance. They provide a photo of their prescription for the medical widget via email. Mom/dad seem to have it goin' on! They applied via our website and sent an email of their prescription, so I send mom/dad to the store to get a quote. When she/he got to the store something happened. Instead of asking for a quote mom/dad got confused and ask to order the medical widget. The clerk refused because mom/dad didn't have payment. She/he got very annoyed and started to melt down right there in the store. Mom/dad called me directly and explained what was happening. Hearing the panic in her/his voice I ask her/him to take a deep breath and leave the store. Knowing where she/he was, I asked her/him to go to the coffee shop and get a tea and I would be right there. I dropped what I was doing and sped off. I got on scene just as mom/dad was finishing her/his decaf coffee and we went back to the store together. I explained the situation, paid for the medical widget and mom/dad will have it ready for pick up in seven days.
Yes, the story you just read is true. Like an old Dragnet episode the names were changed to protect the innocent, in this case the name was eliminated. Thanks to your support, we had the funds available to make this a happy ending. What if this was your mom/dad? Would they even tell you about this story. I know this mom/dad didn't. I said, "this will make a good story for your son/daughter when you see them this weekend." She/he said, "I'm old enough to take care of myself. No need to bother them with this stuff!"
Again I say, thank you for allowing Annie's Angel to be a beacon of hope for so many. Please help us continue our mission by making a recurring monthly contribution on our website,

Candie studied accounting and business management at Hesser College in 1986. In 2006, she established Candie's Bookkeeping and More to assist small businesses with their operational needs. Her tasks in the leadership role included facilitating weekly meetings and presentations, organizing fundraisers, and presenting at and organizing regional events. She has participated in walk-a-thons for Multiple Sclerosis, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She has also helped raise funds for the Neurofibromatosis Association and Children’s Tumor Foundation.
When she’s not providing meditation classes or bookkeeping services, Candie enjoys reading and writing adult and young adult fiction novels, listening to music, watching movies and attending plays. Her favorite pastimes are spending time with her family and friends, and playing with her Rat Terrier, Gina.
