Teagan is a 20-year-old boy with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. Teagan was diagnosed when he was only 3 years old, and has faced countless hurdles since. Teagan has had a total number of 3 major surgeries and procedures to try to make his life a little easier, including back surgeries to put rods in to allow for his back to straighten. Teagan spends his entire day in a wheelchair, and his disease has progressed so much that in the last 10 years, Teagan has gone from being able to partially walk with some assistance, to being able to only move his wrists. Currently he is now unable to move his wrist at all. This has eliminated what little independence he had with being able to use an automatic door opener.
Despite the struggles Teagan has faced, he remains a bright and positive young man. Teagan has graduated high school, been honorary captain on his football team and able to score 2 touchdowns for his team, gone hunting and took down a moose, and has had the chance to do many of the things he has always wanted to do. Teagan is a caring friend, a loving brother, and a grateful son. Teagan inspires everyone he meets and pushes those around him to be better versions of themselves.
Teagan’s family has some hard times recently. With constant medical bills and needed equipment, things have been tight for Teagan’s family. As a recently single mother, his mom works tirelessly to bring home money and ensure her kids have the best life they can.
Teagan’s van, which is his only form of transportation, is in bad shape. There is no heat; it has a hole in the floor, and countless breakdowns and repairs that only add to Teagan’s family’s stress. It can no longer be repaired. Teagan’s independence and ability to get out of the house is already limited, and without a working van, he becomes even more isolated.
With your compassionate donation, you can help a family get back on their feet, help a mom be able to comfortably transport her son again, and help a truly amazing young man continue to live his life as positively and inspirationally as he deserves to.
Thank you!
