I always wanted to be a superhero. Saving lives, helping people. I became one when I joined the fire department. Any firefighter/EMT will tell you that we think we’re invincible. So it never occurred to me that I’d be the one having to ask for help.
After a freak accident, a misdiagnosis which nearly cost me my life, several surgeries, which were followed by multiple chronic illnesses, here I am, asking.
The state has found me disabled, but I’m still waiting for SSDI to make their decision. I’m told that will be eight to twelve months. I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to keep this roof over our heads. Honestly, I would have given up a while ago if it weren’t for Ripper and Brandi. It’s just the three of us.
We are so lucky to have an apartment that works for all my disabilities and that is perfect for the dogs, and a saint of a landlord that should be charging double. So I’m asking for help with rent, because I fear that if we lose this home, we’ll never have another. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Please help Mindy stay in her home while SSDI tries to figure things out. Make a tax deductible donation to this Annie’s Angels Fund.
