Daniel was born with Kabuki Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in 32,000 newborn and causes significant medical complications. Daniel has had 8 surgeries in his life including heart surgery at 8 days old.
Daniel has an amazing service dog named Marshall who is trained to support him through his numerous medical appointments, procedures and surgeries as well as helping him in the community. Marshall has been training for this job since he was 8 weeks old and the two have become inseparable!
When Daniel is overly excited or stressed his reaction is to run away; this can be extremely dangerous. Marshall has a custom leash that attaches to Daniel and Marshall has been trained to stop Daniel from running.
We recently learned that Marshall has a congenital defect that caused both his knees to become dislocated. The only option to allow Marshall to have a full working life as Daniel’s service dog is surgery.
Marshall has changed Daniel’s life in so many positive ways and he is only 1.5 years old! With Marshall’s support, Daniel is able to participate in activities and events that otherwise would be too difficult for Daniel to manage.
Daniel is an incredibly resilient boy who works hard every day to navigate a very challenging world. He attends school and has therapies 3-4 times a week and regular medical appointments with his extensive medical team. Even with all this, Daniel’s favorite thing is to make people laugh! He loves his knock-knock jokes! I never could have imagined the impact that Marshall would have on Daniel and his overall quality of life. Daniel needs his Marshall and Marshall needs his Daniel.
Thanks to your support, we have been able to get one knee repaired. We need your continued support to get the second knee repaired.
We are asking for tax deductible donations to allow Marshall to have the surgery to repair his second knee. The option to not have the surgery is unimaginable.
Thank you for helping to ensure this dynamic duo continue to have a happy and healthy life together!
